Social Worker Supervisor
Position Summary:
This position supervises staff that provide direct services for fostering and sustaining the social, health, economic, behavioral, and emotional functioning of individuals and families served by the local department of social services. Supervises, trains, leads and develops staff, and monitors case management services for foster care, adoption, and independent living services.
Supervises social workers and case aides, sets and monitors objectives for program outputs and outcomes, prepares reports for program grants, provides clinical supervision for staff, recommends policy changes based on evaluation of program effectiveness, deals with difficult or dangerous cases, acts as the agency representative to the public for foster care services, and participates in planning and development of new resources.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Services of minimum of Bachelor's degree in any field and a minimum of four years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (see Section 22VACC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia). Two years of supervisory experience in child welfare is required. Considerable knowledge of: principles and practices of effective supervision; of policies, procedures, and regulations relating to foster care and adoption including CSA and FAPT; casework supervision principles, practice and treatment modalities; and social, economic, and employment challenges that face individuals, groups, and communities.
Preferred Qualifications
BSW or MSW degree and Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are highly desirable. Considerable experience in foster care and adoption and completion of required training programs. Knowledge of family engagement principles and procedures, relative search, and foster parent recruitment and training.
Working Conditions and Environmental Hazards Generally Associated with the Performance of the Essential Functions of the Position:
The regular workweek is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a thirty-minute lunch break. This position will require a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the department and the County to include evening, weekend and occasional holiday hours. Employee is subject to both inside and outside conditions; activities occur inside and outside in approximately equal amounts.
Strength Requirement Associated with the Essential Functions of the Position:
Light to moderate work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
